New Anthology

I have an essay in Have I Got a Guy for You, a new anthology edited by Alix Strauss, which is now available in bookstores and on Amazon.com. The book is a compendium of stories of mothers' mostly disastrous attempts to fix-up their daughters. It wasn't hard to choose which of my mother's myriad matchmaking schemes to write about. There were oh-so-many, but the hands-down winner was when she tried to set me up (via a string of letters) with Gelman, the (then single) producer of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.

My New Year's got off to a great start when I was Googling myself (a guilty pleasure rumored to cause blindness), and discovered that Keris Stainton of Trashionista listed Monkey Star as one of her Top 10 Favorite Books of 2007. (Of course, since she's a Brit, she spells it 'Favourites.') Monkey Star is in great company, too, along with Fortune Quilt by the fabulously funny Lani Diane Rich, who writes far too fast to be a mere mortal.

MORE NEW YEARS' REVELRY: Sandie Vega of MyShelf listed Monkey Star as one of her Top Ten Reads of 2007. And over at Bookfoolery and Babble's 2007 Reading Year in Review, Monkey Love landed in the wonderful category of "Biggest Smile-Inducers."

The Thai translation rights to "Monkey Love" have been sold!  One more reason I love Thai food.
