World Gorilla Day - Los Angeles Zoo

Saturday, Sept. 23 & Sunday, Sept. 24

The L.A. Zoo is celebrating World Gorilla Day in a big way, with two days of keeper talks, activities, and the launch of my book, Angela & Lulingu: Two Gorillas, A World Apart. I'll be reading and signing throughout both days (times TBD). (If you have any old cell phones to recycle, bring them along and you'll be helping to save gorillas.) 

OC Children's Book Festival 

Sunday, October 1, 9:30 am - 4 pm

Stop by the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association's booth (#G10 near the Animals & Nature stage) at the Orange County Kids Book Festival. Free admission, free parking, and lots of fun activities throughout the festival. I'll be there all day signing copies of "Angela & Lulingu." More info here!  

I had a great time sharing space with other others in the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators-Los Angeles Chapter (SCBWI-L.A.) booth at the L.A. Times Festival of Books in April. Met lots of enthusiastic young readers. Some wanted to chat about their favorite animals, while others want to be authors themselves. What a fun day!

Also in April, I appeared at the L.A. Zoo's "Wild for the Planet" celebration, reading one of the books in my Zoo Crew series. When I wasn't busy reading/signing books, I helped out at the EcoCell booth, talking to guests about the link between cell phones and gorilla conservation.
